Étude number 6 is the last one in a collection of UHC sanmai damascus with springy damascus jacket.
I have packed my observations collected through iteration of experiments on several parameters picked one after the other from my own work over a decade, until I had them all under control.
The results of this research lead to this blade.

what can`t be seen, but only felt in use is the sharpness, the blade geometry, the balance in a pinch grip, the numbness, the lightweight…
I composed the handle and scabbard as a frame based on textured contrast between raw and satin lush, between dark and light, between spotted and flat smooth, to underline the intricate pattern of this blade.
I have chosen to keep the dimensions inside a moderate size, as if to pronounce the human aspect of this tool. 195mm long like the length of an open hand, 50mm like three fingertips broad, the handle 125mm will fit most hands, even those of a lady.
These dimensions are the only thing medium in this work.
Everything else is striving for excellence.
Because damascus is not only just a pretty face.
Damascus is the true reflection of skills and knowledge put together for a work of art with a function.
The esthetic reflects the mechanical properties, the beauty matching the performance.
