we look at a three tool steel damascus with average carbon content of 1,0%, about 180 layers and a hardness of 60/62HRC. The grip is made of water buffalo horn.
The pins are 18ct yellow gold, and the bird´s eyes bushings around the blade´s axle are fusioned 24 ct filings on fine silver. The pouch is ray leather. I am happy that Jens got it. Water buffalo horn is normally used for spectacles. I like the fact that it shimmers almost translucent when polished to a high gloss. It is quiet yet refined and elegant. This is why I chose it . I needed something to counter balance the highly figured blade. This is to me a question of polarity. If one part is loaded in a positive way, I feel that I should give a place for the eye to rest on while watching at the hole folder. Completed with the ray leather pouch, it makes for a refined but not pretentious folder that can still be taken along in one´s pocket and be used with a knowing hand should the occasion occur.
